Wine and Olive Oil Tasting

Today I went to a program led day trip, where we experienced both a winery and olive oil tastings!

We first went to the Masia Can Viver, an olive oil vineyard in Bigues i Riells, where we were able to tour the vineyard, see the olive oil making process, and then taste some olive oil with some other tasty foods. What I really loved about this tour was that it's family run, and all of the family members live at the vineyard and have for centuries. The location was absolutely beautiful and I really learned what good quality olive oil really is.

We then visited Torres Winery, where we had a guided tour and learned about the process of making wine, from the vineyard all the way to the aging process. We were then able to try an assortment of different wines. We had the privilege to learn about the wine making process from expert wine educator, and employee of Torres. We first were guided through the Mas La Plana vineyard, then visited the Waltraud Cellar, where the wine is processed and ferments, and lastly were given two wines to taste. We also got a peak into the history of the Torres family, and the company that has been making wine for 140 years now. All and all it was a very cultural experience, and I would love to have the chance to do it again, but maybe this time at home in California!
